How to deal with a subject you loathe horribly?

Okay, so let's all admit this: so in our learning career, we are going to be able to expose ourselves to a lot of new subjects; for example, math, science, english, blah blah blah. And of course, some subjects, you're going to like them very much; but however. for some other. you will hate them, you will just find the subjects very boring and bad and everything like that. However, if you are aiming for a top college for example, or if you're aiming yourself to succeed academically, you must be able to overcome these feelings of uncomfort towards the subjects. Therefore, knowing how to deal with some subjects or a subject that you loathe horribly are very crucial skills if you want to be able to succeed academically.

Okay, so for your first step, you must be able to understand why you loathe that subject very much in the first place, because you can't hate everything about it, right? For example, ofor some certain subjects, do you hate it because you just hate the way the teachers are, the way they teach, or is it because the content is just very hard to grasp? If you're able to understand why you hate that subject then, I believe that you will be able to find a way to get through the subject, because at the end of the day, some subjects are still very interesting, just that there are some constraints that are preventing you from actually enjoying it. So knowing what is making you hate it will ensure that you will be able to deal with this subject in a more appropriate and efficient way.

Okay so for our second tip: Don't force yourself into liking something you hate, into liking a subject that you hate horribly, but instead adapt to it,  because at the end of the day it will still be there. So you guys, running away from a problem is not the solution; however, if you try to like a subject that you hate then believe me, even if you put so much effort into it, even if you work so hard for it, at the end of the day you will not be able to succeed in that subject completely like some other people, because if you don't even like it then when you're studying, you're not really putting the mind, the whole of your mind, into actually trying to understand the concepts and trying to take in what is being taught in this subject. Therefore, don't force yourself into liking it if you have hated it so much in the first place; however, adapting is the solution. So what do I mean by the word adapting here? Adapting here means that you know how to deal with something that you hate horribly; for example, you don't completely just try to fake yourself into liking it, but you still try to understand the basic concepts - for example, you try to seek help. That's the way of adapting; because at the end of the day, the subject is still going to be there, and if you try to focus too much time and too much effort into something you hate, first of all, you're still not going to be able to succeed in that subject, but secondly, you are also wasting your time towards subjects that you may actually have the potential in. Therefore, knowing how to manage your time well, knowing how much time should you allocate towards them so that you don't fall behind but not in the way that you try to like it and then you waste so much time towards other things that are so equally important is very important for you to succeed academically.

Okay, so some weeks ago, we have learned about the concept of stoicism. So if you forget what the idea of the Stoicism is, it essentially means that for things that you can control, please control it, please your mind into it; however, if there are things that you can't control (they are outside of your ability to control it) then don't put too much attention, too much effort into thinking about it - because even if you put so much of your mind to it you will not going to be able to control it. So, the idea of stoicism can be applied right here? The thing that you can't control is that you must learn the subjects that you loathe horribly; however, try to focus more on the idea of what you can control, of what you can do to the best of your ability. What I am meaning of things that you can actually control is the approach that you are taking towards it. So instead of trying to put your mind into hating a teacher, hating the subject, and hating everything about it, try to focus more on how you can try to understand this concept, how you will be able to get those good scores in it, instead of hating it all the time. That way you can still get a good score while not paying attention to how much you actually hated in the first place.
