Making money as a college student

As you may have already known, college can be something very, very expensive, with tuition fees being over $200,000 at private universities in the United States. But that is not the only cost that you have to pay when attending college, because that cost will typically only cover the tuition fee and the housing cost. There are also so many things that you have to pay for, also, for example the food if you eat out, your clothes, your different needs and wants. For example, I am from Vietnam and in the future I would like to study in the United States. However, because in the US things are much more expensive in comparison to Vietnam, therefore, even if I bring some money from Vietnam and then I convert it into US dollars so that I can use it in the United States, it is going to be very likely that I am going to run out of money very quickly. This is the same case for so many people who are studying in foreign countries, especially in the US. Therefore, many people have come to the decision that in order to make more money, they decide to work as a college student.

Therefore, today is going to be a post dedicated towards giving you some information about how you can seek jobs when you're still a college student, so that you can prepare yourself financially when you go abroad.

First is to search for jobs on campus. Many US universities and colleges provide job opportunities for students that they can do on campus. For example, they can be a librarian, they can help the librarian there with sorting out different books or helping students around. You can search for these jobs by asking the faculty, or you can also search online if there are any opportunity openings for jobs. Remember that in order to get this job, it isn't going to be very easy, because again, there are going to be many international students like you who are also seeking these opportunities. Therefore, try to stand out and try to prove to the people there that you are capable of doing the work well.

The next thing that you can do is that you can seek work outside. However, you have to be very careful when it comes to this, especially when it comes to international students. Many international students, when coming to the US, face a barrier, because the government they don't allow international students to do certain work, or that they have some certain limit about what jobs international students can take, and what is the amount of salary can they have, and how much time can they work per day maximum. Because of this, you should consult your college and you should research this information beforehand, because you don't want to face certain shocks when coming there when you want to get a very high-paying job, but it turns out that you cannot do it. Then it is going to be very bad for you.

Something that you can do that I think can be very helpful, if you are not able to work physically on site, is online. There are many options that you can take, especially Fiverr. On Fiverr, you can advertise yourself. There are a lot of people who are desiring different needs, and sometimes your capabilities can satisfy these people. Therefore, if you're interested in doing this, figure out what things are you good at, try to promote yourself, try to prove that you're able to do these things well, and I assure you that people will be able to trust you and will pay money to hire you to do whatever they want.

Another thing that you can do is teach people back home. After you know, in many countries, to study abroad is something very impressive, and that many parents, especially in Asia, would like their students to learn from these people, so that they can attend a good college in the future. This is especially beneficial and helpful for people who are studying at prestigious universities, for example, Harvard, Yale, Stanford. Therefore, if you believe that you are capable of teaching something well, that you are able to show the parents that you are able to get into these colleges with very good academic records, and that you can help their sons, their daughters, to succeed academically, then I assure you that people will pay so that you can teach their children.

For a final tip, remember that you still have a lot of work to do apart from working, for example, doing school work or hanging out. Therefore, apart from trying to make money, enjoy your college life, enjoy the people, and enjoy what the university has to offer, so that you don't want to spend your four years of studying in college in a boring way.
