If you study at a typical high school, at the beginning of the year, there's always going to be something that's called a "Club Fair." Essentially, when the year begins, different students don't really know about what clubs they should join yet, and additionally, there are also people who just come to the school, so they may not have much information about the different clubs that the school offers. Therefore, this can be a very good opportunity for you to showcase your club and to attract people into joining it. Therefore, today, I would like to make this post in order to give you some advice about how you can successfully pull people in, how you can successfully advertise your own club that you found, in order to attract people to join it.
The most important part of this post is about preparation, because I believe that by preparing yourself well, by preparing your club well, the event, everything is going to be okay. First of all, something that will really boost your credibility for people who don't know your club yet is to show your past achievements. You can show anything that you have done that you are proud of, and you can show anything that you think will make people become interested in joining your club. For example, my club has done a lot of things: we have hosted two workshops with hundreds of people joining; we have also written positive notes to over 200 students at our school; we have done a lot of volunteering; we have donated over 700 books and infographics to students who are less fortunate than us; and we have also hosted an event outside of school which got news coverage. If you are able to use those events and craft a good story about your club, it will really show the people there that your club is something that they must join, that your club is something that they will really like, and that they will miss out on a lot of things in the case that they don't join it.
Additionally, you can make your presentation more attractive by incorporating small details into it. For example, you can make a hook at the beginning of the presentation, you can do acting, you can showcase the products that you have done. For example, for our club, we have printed and designed a handbook, so that can be something that we can showcase to the potential future members.
Additionally, you need to be enthusiastic, you need to be understanding of your club, because basically your effort and your work will determine whether the people there will join your club. Make sure to always be happy to answer the different questions, but to make sure to answer them honestly. You will need to also mention the future plan about what are you going to do, so that they can have a vision of what you and your club are doing, so that they will not find the club vague or anything.
For example, for my psychology club, I have had a presentation that I believe it's very detailed and that it really mentions a lot of aspects of our club. Before the "Head Start," I show a lot of pictures, I show a lot of photos about what our club has done, and then I also share with them the article that we got featured on the internet. After that, I start to discuss with them a bit about psychology, because some people typically believe that psychology is a very science-based, complex subject where they have to learn about everything about the brain. However, I have shown them another aspect of the psychology club on my presentation, which is that I would use our club in order to help the people in our community, for example, through positive notes, hosting workshops, or essentially just helping others mentally. That way, people not only can understand more about psychology, but can understand more about our club, that our club is not something academic, but that you will be able to do a lot of philanthropic stuff when you join the club.
With that, I would like to urge you to start to think about what you can do at the club fair, start to think about what can you include in the presentation, what can you say, what you can write in order to impress the potential club members, and basically just be yourself, always be enthusiastic about what you are saying, what you're presenting to these people, and never hesitate to answer questions to any of the people's concerns, whatever they have. With that, I hope you the best when it comes to attracting and promoting your club to new students, to potential club members at your school.
