In the previous week, I have shared with you guys some things that you can do in order to spend a night for yourself, right? This week, I would like to expand this idea further - today, I will share with you some of my recommended movies that you can watch whenever you feel like watching one. And not just any movies, this post will be dedicated towards romance movies! I have to make a confession here: my favorite movie genre is romance. To tell the truth, I’m not one who has watched a billion romance movies, but my experience with watching a lot of them has made me able to come up with some very solid works that are worthy to be watched by you all. That’s why today, let’s look at 3 romance movies that you should watch right now!
1) Maurice
Number 1 on the list, a movie that I believe that should have been much more popular (yet sadly it isn’t) is Maurice, a movie from 1987. So just for some sneak peak of the movie, it is about two college students (male) who secretly fall in love with each other. Yet, based on the context of the time, where homosexual people are being besmirched and even sentenced in jail, one of the two men was scared and ended up liking marrying a female. Yet, the other one was honestly more carefree, and fell in love with another man, who was actually a worker in the house of the man that married the woman. I think this movie is very beautiful because first of all, the vibe it gave was so nice. In the college where they were staying, everything just looked like Harry Potter - the old stone buildings, the costumes, basically everything (remember that this movie was released more than 10 years before the first part of Harry Potter!). There are a lot of great and memorable scenes there as well, so definitely watch it if you feel like it - note that there are some nudities in the movie.
2) Dirty Dancing
This movie was released in the same year as Maurice (1987), and it was also a very memorable movie. For some sneak peaks of what the movie was about, there was this girl who was on a vacation with her family, and at that resort due to some particular reasons (you have to watch the movie to know why!) she replaced a female dancer to dance for a male dancer who was working there. And by the time they practiced with each other they had fallen in love with one another. However, her parents disapproved of this relationship, so they had to manage things out. This is truly a beautiful movie as well, which is for me more upbeat than Maurice. Honestly, I don’t know how to describe this movie, so just watch the movie to get the experience yourself - note that although I think there are no nudities in the movie, there is a scene where you can see two people having sex (hidden by a blanket).
3) The Parent Trap
The last movie in this recommendation list that I would like to recommend you watch is “The Parent Trap”, a movie released in 1998. And before we get into this, I want to tell you that I have watched this movie a total of 3 times, so you know that it’s a very good movie. Basically, this movie is about two long-lost twins coincidentally meeting one another, where after they figured out their identities, came up with a plan of reconciling their parents - each of the sisters were living with a parent, one in England and another one in Napa, California. Because they didn’t know the other parent before, they have dedicated themselves to switch up with one another to meet the parent that they haven’t met before. But then, there was a challenge: the father was about to be engaged with another woman, Meredith. Because of this, while being in two different continents, the sisters have to come up with a way to make the parents reconcile while pushing the young woman Meredith away. I first watched this movie in 5th grade, and then it was actually my favorite movie! First of all, the plot is very straightforward, and there are some humorous factors in that as well, so it isn’t a really stressful experience to watch it. Both the girls in the movies are actually performed by an actress - it was Lindsay Lohan. I’m pretty sure that you have watched at least one of the movies where she participated - movies like Freaky Friday or Mean Girls.
Apart from these movies, there are a lot of movies that I would like to recommend, just that this post is being too long already! With that, I hope that if you are interested in watching romance movies, you can spare some time to watch these movies - I swear that you won’t be disappointed at all!
