I would like to talk about something very interesting that you may have not thought of before, but I think will be very beneficial for you and also the community, which is the idea of volunteering. So, why do people typically volunteer? First of all, they want to make changes to the community. They may say that the place that they are living in, there are different problems. For example, there's a lot of trash, or there's a lot of mice on the street, or that people there are addicted to some stuff, and they would like to change these problems by bringing benefits to the community through volunteering.

Another benefit of volunteering is that you have a better perspective of life. Essentially, when you do volunteering, many of the time, you will be exposed to people from different social-economic classes, and that many of these people are not going to be as fortunate as you. Through this experience, through exposure to these people, you can better understand their hardship and hopefully appreciate your life more since you are able to be born in a more fortunate environment.

Also, volunteering is actually a very good place to explore your interests. You may not know it, but some things that you can do through volunteering may stick with you through life because you are interested in what you are doing. Next up, through volunteering, you will definitely make some new friends. Typically, when volunteering, these workers will come from non-governmental organizations, and they will help you along the way as you also help the community. So, through that, you can make some new friends and also some credible people that are famous in that certain field.

Finally, even if you're still in school or you have been older, the action of volunteering is very appreciated by both College admission officers as well as companies. Through volunteering, you really show them that you care about the people around you and you really want to make change in your community. Therefore, you will be placed in an advantageous position compared to others peers.

So, what can you volunteer? There are actually different options that you can take. Essentially, you can just hang around and ask the people in your community if they have volunteer opportunities. Typically, there will be some sort of organizations that do something like this. First of all, we have food banks, essentially we provide food for free to poor people. You can help with distributing the food there.

Next up, we have to pick up trash. This activity tends to come from different environmental organizations. It is actually very easy; you can just sign up for it, and then they could provide you different materials, for example, bags to collect trash or so that you don't make your hands dirty when cleaning trash.

Another thing that you can do is to volunteer at senior centers. Essentially, this is where the old people live and hang out. By being at a senior center, you can do different things, for example, you can play the piano or different instruments in the room where old people hang out, and you can talk to them. You can make some cards to wish them, it would help and essentially make them feel better by you being present. As you know, at senior centers, these elders typically don't have their daughters or sons or children, grandchildren come very often, so that this can be a very meaningful activity that will really cheer the day up with those adults.

The way that you can seek for the opportunities is actually very easy. Typically, through volunteering, you will have to sign up for an NGO in order to get approved. Typically, when this NGO, they have opportunities for people to sign up as volunteers, they go promote it on social media or go print some posters and hang it around the community that you live in. So, you can watch out for that. Otherwise, you can seek out this organization yourself and ask if there are any positions open for you. Finally, you can ask the people that you know if they have any information about different NGOs, different environmental groups that are hanging around in your area so that you can sign up for these positions.

With that, I hope you can learn a lot from this experience, and I hope you have a good day.
